Cooper met Nancy when he almost ran her over with his motorcycle. Originally he was one of her clients, paying the young witch to allow him to drink her blood. This blossomed into a fast friendship. When Cooper disappeared for six months, it upset Nancy, but not to the point where she didn't take him back when he reappeared. She gave him a daylight ring and they resumed their client/buyer relationship. This ended when Cooper realized he was in love with her. They became a couple and Cooper couldn't be happier with his new girlfriend. (And any comparisons to other teenage vampire romance protagonists will get the person whacked round the head.)
